Looking for a new opportunity at the State of Arizona?  The State employs over 30,000 people and is Arizona's largest employer with over 100 agencies, boards, and commissions, providing a vast spectrum of occupational opportunities.  This class will walk you through the application process and will provide you tips on how to differentiate yourself in a competitive job market through the use of key words, matching your resume to the job announcement, and writing a customized cover letter that will get you noticed!  Azstatejobs.gov is the official website to go to when looking for your next job.

The key to getting the right job begins with understanding who you really are!  Each of us is born with innate personality preferences that affect how we look at the world, make decisions, organize our time and surroundings and communicate with others.  These preferences do change and evolve over our lifetime, but our basic blueprint remains the same.  Studies indicate that the greatest career satisfaction is derived from using our natural gifts and talents in work that makes a difference.  When the line between work and enjoyment is blurred, career satisfaction tends to be high!  You're invited to join us for this workshop designed to help you understand your natural personality and how that knowledge can assist you in achieving greater career success!

This session will be facilitated by Jan M. Plank, the manager of the State of Arizona Career Center, a full-service career center for State employees desiring career development.  The State Career Center assists clients with career planning, assessments, interview preparation, resume development, and retirement career planning.  Prior to joining the State, from 2001-2006 Jan managed a career center in Fort Collins, Colorado for Hewlett-Packard.  At the time, HP was experiencing a reduction in worldwide headcount of 15%.  Many of those who were laid off took advantage of career transition assistance, and successfully landed positions. Jan built her foundation for her current position while a Manager of HR for Citigroup in Phoenix and Yavapai College in Prescott.

Jan has traveled around the globe seeking to understand various cultures and belief systems.  "My life and work experiences have given me a strong foundation that I use to help our clients and enrich their contact with the Career Center.  My goal for each individual who utilizes our services is to instill hope and provide encouragement for the future," says Jan.   Her extensive work experience has given her insights into what employers are looking for in a job candidate, which benefits her clients as they competitively present themselves through their transition and advance in their career.
